Carl Orff's thrilling CARMINA BURANA

St. Catharines, ON - Chorus Niagara and Artistic Director Robert Cooper present a thrilling finale to their first season in the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre with BANG! Saturday May 7, 7:30pm. Carmina Burana is one of the most popular, accessible and energetic 20th Century classical music works. Audiences will experience the driving rhythms LIVE with special guests TorQ Percussion Quartet. Described by the Ottawa Citizen as “Outstanding - no, make that astonishing!" Canada's premiere percussion ensemble, TorQ Percussion Quartet continues to bring new vitality to percussion repertoire and performance in every situation and opportunity. Renowned for their engaging performances, members Richard Burrows, Adam Campbell, Jamie Drake, and Daniel Morphy are committed to making percussion music accessible to audiences that span generations and as The Toronto Star states "[TorQ] can stand proud among the growing throng of chamber percussion ensembles around the world."

Two virtuoso pianists perform for this very special event - Chorus Niagara's Lynne Honsberger and Brock University's Dr. Karin Di Bella duel on two grand pianos. Solo vocalists Lucia Cesaroni, soprano; David Trudgen, counter-tenor; and Gregory Dahl, baritone are featured.  The 100 voices of Chorus Niagara are also joined by guest choirs Choralis Camerata, (Artistic Director David Braun), the Chorus Niagara Children's Choir, (Artistic Director Amanda Nelli) and Chorus Niagara's Side-by-Side high school chorale.
