The Purina® Walk for Dog Guides helps provide the essential funding needed to enable Lions Foundation to continue to provide Dog Guides at no cost to people with disabilities each year.

Lions Foundation of Canada is a unique national charity that trains Dog Guides in six distinct programs to help Canadians with disabilities. The Purina® Walk for Dog Guides helps provide the essential funding needed to enable Lions Foundation to continue to provide Dog Guides at no cost to people with disabilities each year. Each Dog Guide costs $25,000 to raise and train, yet they are provided at no cost to qualified applicants. Lions Foundation does not receive any government funding and relies solely on donations and fundraising eventslike the Purina® Walk for Dog Guides.

As the largest Walk of its kind in Canada, the Purina® Walk for Dog Guides is held in more than 200 communities and is organized by local volunteers. Thanks to sponsors, both national and local level, all proceeds go directly towards training Dog Guides for Canadians with disabilities.

Here are details for the Purina® Walk for Dog Guides happening in Thorold

Organizers: Thorold Lions Club
Time: Registration 9 AM; Walk - 10 AM
Date: Sunday, May 29, 2016
Location: Battle of Beaverdams Park, Thorold
What: A 2 km Walk to raise funds for Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides

All companies providing a donation will be recognized as a local sponsor. This includes name and logo on route maps, local promotional pamphlets, mailing to past participants and donors and the opportunity to provide a coupon or item in the participants’ grab bags and have a display at the Walk. We expect 40 people to
participate locally this year, based on past attendance.

At the national level, Nestlé Purina PetCare is the title sponsor of the Walk. Purina also provides all food and treats for Dog Guide’s in training.
