“For us to continue to move the City forward, it’s important for Council, staff, and the community to work together and be ambassadors for Welland,” said Campion.

Welland, ON - City of Welland Mayor Frank Campion delivered an insightful update regarding the City’s progress, priorities, and vision during Wednesday’s United Way South Niagara (UWSN) breakfast fundraiser. Mayor Campion addressed an assembly of 100 community members and key stakeholders, which raised $1,500 for UWSN.  The Mayor’s presentation titled “Welland…Pursuing Our Vision” helped to raise funds for much needed programs and services for South Niagara, and also demonstrated the City’s commitment to nurture social and economic growth.

Mayor Campion’s presentation gave attendees a glance at the City’s 2015 and 2016 progress pertaining to canal redevelopment, financial sustainability, infrastructure renewal, economic development and job creation, enhancement of communications, and public engagement. In particular, Campion highlighted Council and staff’s commitment to road, sewer, and water infrastructure renewal as exemplified by a $22 million plus multi-year investment. These priorities will provide a road map for Council in their decision making during the next two years, and provide strategic direction for City staff. More information regarding the City’s priorities and strategic initiatives will be communicated to the public this fall. Mayor Campion completed the presentation with an outline of the City’s vision. With a mandate to enrich the quality of life of residents, Council and staff will focus on repositioning the City by capitalizing on emerging trends and opportunities.

Mayor Campion says the City has made significant progress this year, and the City has plenty to look forward to. “For us to continue to move the City forward, it’s important for Council, staff, and the community to work together and be ambassadors for Welland,” said Campion.

United Way South Niagara supports nearly 30 charitable organizations with funds raised in Niagara communities by delivering programs and services that have the greatest impact on Niagara’s vulnerable and at risk communities.
