Mayor Campion presents Homecoming Gift at Upcoming IceDogs Game
Welland, ON - Mayor Frank Campion is pleased to open the Niagara IceDogs vs the Hamilton Bulldogs hockey game scheduled for Thursday, November 3rd at the St. Catharines Meridian Centre. Campion will present a homecoming gift to junior hockey players Niki Petti and Connor Walters before the start of the game. The IceDogs team is honouring the game as “Welland Night” and hoping to see a large crowd of Welland fans in attendance.
Petti and Walters were born in Welland, along with a long list of other professional hockey players. Having Mayor Campion deliver the homecoming gift is a gesture of appreciation to players who represent Niagara, and a recognition and tribute towards Petti and Walters who both grew up in Welland.
“Presenting the homecoming gift to Niki and Conner is a great way to welcome the players and commemorate great Canadian hockey,” said Campion.
“Welland has produced many talented hockey players and will we continue to encourage professional sport and social responsibility.”
Hockey players are known for their competitive nature; however, many of Canada’s professional hockey players are active in the community and educating youth.
“The IceDogs continue to make a difference in our neighbourhoods with their anti-bullying program,” said Campion.
