Garden City ready for Earth Day

Celebrate Earth Day in St. Catharines with a number of activities focused on conservation and the environment.

Pitch-In Day

Help make St. Catharines a more beautiful place by taking part in the Pitch-In Day Clean City Clean Up Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

This year’s designated sites include: QEW off ramp at Lake Street (meet at the Best Western Plus parking lot at 2 North Service Rd., no children under 12 years old); Malcolmson Eco-Park (325 Lakeshore Rd.); Pic Leeson Park (meet at main entrance off of Bloomfield Street); Participark Trail (meet at trail parking lot on Old Glendale Road near Pelham Road and Glendale Avenue).

You can also help clean your own neighbourhood or favourite park. Gloves and garbage bags available. Get a group together and call 905.688.5600 to register and to let us know where you'll be cleaning up so we can arrange to pick up the trash.

Earth Day expo at Market Square

Discuss water quality and the environment with City staff and learn about sustainability from other organizations at Links for Greener Learning’s annual Earth Day Celebrationat Market Square on Friday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Malcolmson Eco-Park Earth Day Celebration and Native Plant Sale

Help plant trees and wildflowers at Malcolmson Eco-Park Saturday, April 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Find something for your yard and garden at the Friends of Malcolmson Eco-Park’s native plant and tree sale. Paw Paws, Trilliums, Black Eyed Susans and more than 100 other native trees, shrubs, wildflowers and grasses will be for sale. The annual Earth Day tree planting and dedication, with invited dignitaries, takes place at 11 a.m. Malcolmson Eco-Park is located at 325 Lakeshore Rd. Parking is available at the nearby Grantham Lions Club (732 Niagara St.).
