Campaigns promoting the Garden City as a great place to visit and do business have garnered the City of St. Catharines two prestigious Marketing Canada Awards from the Economic Development Association of Canada.

The City received the Marketing Canada Award for best website from the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) for its new tourism website: www.tourismstcatharines.ca . The City launched the refreshed website in the spring.

“Our new website is a vital way for visitors and residents to find useful information to help plan their itinerary while in St. Catharines,” said Karen Doyle, the City’s tourism marketing officer. “After launching the website we quickly saw increases in visitation, page views and time spent on the site. The new Tourism St. Catharines site is easy for the consumer to navigate.”

The City of St. Catharines’ grocery brochure also received the Marketing Canada Award for Best Single Publication – Over Four Pages. The grocery brochure is part of the City’s campaign to attract a grocery store to downtown St. Catharines.

“We are honoured to receive this recognition,” said Brian York, director of economic development and government relations. “The City’s new tourism web site along with our investment marketing collateral is leaving a positive impression not only on those planning to visit and invest in the Garden City but our peers who are in the business of marketing their communities.”

Presented annually, the Marketing Canada Awards recognize the most effective and innovative economic development promotional campaigns and marketing strategies in the country. Excellence in marketing has become a critical differentiator for Canada’s economic development professionals and the Marketing Canada Awards acknowledge and praise communities who have succeeded at this critical task. The Marketing Canada Awards were presented at the annual EDAC Conference held Sept. 9-12 in Niagara Falls.
