The City of Welland has launched a Graffiti Assistance Program to help relieve 50% of the financial burden of removal.
Welland, ON – Studies show that the best way to keep graffiti from spreading is to take action and clean it up as soon as it appears. The City of Welland has launched a Graffiti Assistance Program to help relieve 50% of the financial burden of removal. The goal of this program is to reduce, prevent, and remove graffiti for a safer cleaner Welland. The Graffiti Assistance Program requires participation from residents, property owners, and business owners, in order to grow a better healthier community that benefits everyone. In the spirit of keeping Welland communities vibrant and clean, the City supports all efforts to eradicate graffiti.
The City is committed to combat graffiti and asks the public to speak-up and take advantage of the Graffiti Assistance Program that funds 50% of removal fees with a $500 yearly maximum per property. Ali Khan, Supervisor, Traffic, Parking & By-Laws wants the public to know that graffiti isn’t merely unsightly; it is also unlawful.
The City’s Supervisor of By-Laws assures the public that the City wants to cooperate with the community, and further understands the frustration involved with vadalization of property. “There are preventative measures the public can take,” said Khan. “Don’t give vandals a clean easy canvas. Plant bushes around outside walls and install security lighting.”
