Have Your Say: GO station area plans at Open Houses

The Niagara Story Place sponsored by Calhoun

Public invited to review GO station area plans at Open Houses

Niagara Region is holding a series of Open Houses to give residents the opportunity to review and ask questions about land use plans (Secondary Plans) that will guide development for the areas surrounding Niagara's four proposed GO Train station sites.

proposed go route

The draft Secondary Plans were developed with resident input and provide a planning framework to guide future transit-oriented development and redevelopment in and around GO Station areas. The plans provide policy direction on land use, scale of development, and improvements to infrastructure required to accommodate future growth within the station areas.

"Regional Council is committed to ensuring that the development of the areas surrounding the proposed GO stations responds to the needs of local communities and neighbourhoods. The Secondary Plans are intended to help us maximize the economic benefits of the growth that will occur from the development of the station sites. We look forward to working with our local communities as we plan for the arrival of regular GO Train service." ~ Alan Caslin, Regional Chair

In 2016, the Province confirmed daily GO Train service to three station locations: Grimsby, St. Catharines and Niagara Falls, with a fourth potential future station location in Beamsville (Town of Lincoln).

The public Open Houses will all take place from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Niagara Falls – October 18
Niagara Falls Public Library (LaMarsh Room), 4848 Victoria Avenue

Grimsby – October 23
Grimsby Town Hall (Council Chamber), 160 Livingston Avenue

Lincoln – November 1
Fleming Centre (upstairs), 5020 Serena Drive, Beamsville

St. Catharines – November 2
Rodman Hall (Studio Gallery), 109 St. Paul Crescent

Public feedback on the draft Secondary Plans is encouraged. The plans will be available online for download approximately 2 weeks prior to each respective Open House at www.niagararegion.ca/gohubstudy .
