Are You A Student? Do You Know Be Your Own Boss This Summer and Start A Business With Summer Company!

You could be eligible for up to $3,000 from Summer Company! Students aged 15-29, and returning to school in the fall can apply for the grant – the first $1,500 covers start-up costs and the second installment of $1,500 is given to recipients upon successful completion of the program.

In addition to the grant money, you receive invaluable mentorship and training from fellow entrepreneurs and business professionals.

The deadline to apply is May 19, 2018; or earlier if spots fill up!

Summer Company is delivered by the Niagara Falls Small Business Enterprise Centre in partnership with the Government of Ontario.

Editor's Note: Also available from St. Catharines Enterprise Centre

Applications are open for Summer Company, a provincial program helping students start their own businesses. Summer Company offers students ages 15 to 29 business training and mentorships from local successful business people, support from the small business experts at the St. Catharines Enterprise Centre and a $3,000 grant to get their ideas off the ground.

“Over the course of the summer students will learn what it takes to manage a business, from sales and marketing to bookkeeping to managing relationships with customers to networking,” said Rob Belchior, the City’s small business consultant at the Enterprise Centre. “Students get so much more out of it than just grant money: the skills and experience they develop will serve them well in future opportunities.”

The St. Catharines Enterprise Centre is the local provider for Summer Company. Eligible candidates must apply before May 19 and must be: Ontario residents, Canadian citizens or permanent residents; willing to commit to a minimum of 280 hours (secondary school students) or 420 hours (post-secondary students) to their business; and not working at another job or attending school for more than 12 hours per week during their term for the Summer Company program.
