A Message from the Mayor of Welland - Frank Campion.

Locals can continue to dine and catch a show in downtown Welland now with the second annual Summer Music Festival entertaining audiences at Merritt Park. Last summer, music lovers gathered to enjoy free high quality entertainment at the outdoor amphitheatre. Due to the response from the crowds, the tradition is continuing into the 2016 festival season.

This City has built an identity around its long running festivals, free family fun, and civic engagement.

This festival season of music, water, and community, compliments the City’s long list of existing traditions and events. This years’ festival producers have lined-up a spectacular group of entertainers for all ages. The season ignited on June 24th as The Caverners set the musical standard and gave us the Beatles night of our lives, and set the stage for a summer full of musical delight.

Festivals and events bring together networks of communities that strengthen social bonds and create shared memories. In order to share those memories with all audiences, this year’s entertainment is scheduled to keep families frequenting Merritt Park. Particularly when Splash ‘N Boots seize the stage on July 2, to keep children dancing and parents entertained. Splash ‘N Boots is a Treehouse TV Favourite and has won a collection of awards: including a JUNO nomination. Come early for this show and don’t forget the sunscreen for the little ones.

The fun will grow as we move through July and August with performances that will fill downtown with music from Mad Dogs and Englishmen, Woodstock-Revisited, Kindred and Sunset Rebels, Brian Neale with Northern Harbour, New Kid in Town (Eagles Tribute), and Matt Cage (Elvis Tribute). A variety of local bands will also hit the stage to open up for these headliners and showcase the talent emerging from Welland and Niagara. We invite you to join us on the waterway this summer to support the entertainment arts and enjoy what this City has to offer.
