Community Support month is celebrated across Ontario and is an opportunity to acknowledge and raise awareness of the value of supports available in our region. October 1 - October 7, 2018 is Meals on Wheels week.

Meals on Wheels Association (MOWAN) announced that October is Community Support Month. Community Support month is celebrated across Ontario and is an opportunity to acknowledge and raise awareness of the value of supports available in our region. October 1 October 7, 2018 is Meals on Wheels week. The delivery of almost 3000 hot and frozen meals each week, carried out by caring volunteers, also includes a safety check on the wellbeing of the client. This valuable program helps clients live independently in their own homes and communities for as long as possible. As Ontario’s population ages, community support services will become even more important.

This vital safety net allows people to remain healthier and independent in their own homes.

Leslie Kennedy, MOWAN Chair says,

"Highlighting the Meals on Wheels program annually draws attention to needs of individuals in our local communities. It is an opportunity for those that may not know about the program to become aware of the resources that are available to them.”

  • Connecting Niagara does just that. They put me in touch with key representatives in the area that understood what I was trying to achieve. Together we achieved so much more.
