Simple Acts. Big Impact.

Come and be a part of the Niagara Region's celebration of Earth Week 2022 by participating in the following activities. Exciting prizes await!

Refrigerant Items Drop-Off Contest: Monday, April 18 – Saturday, April 23

A number of appliances (eg. fridges, air conditioners, freezers), contain refrigerant (CFC), a compound that helps with the cooling process. CFC is toxic and can cause harm to the environment and people in the community when disposed of incorrectly. It is important that these items are properly recycled once they reach their end of life to ensure CFC is not released into the air, water, or soil. Niagara Region residents can recycle these items and help keep CFC out of the environment.

From April 18 to 23, residents dropping off an item containing CFC at one of Niagara Region’s drop off locations listed below will be eligible for entry into a draw for a $50 Visa gift card. To enter the contest, residents must scan the QR code to access an online contest form, or provide their name and contact information to fill out ballots on site, when they drop off their items with CFC at the drop off depot.

For a list of items containing refrigerants/CFC, residents can search using the item disposal search tool.

  • Connecting Niagara does just that. They put me in touch with key representatives in the area that understood what I was trying to achieve. Together we achieved so much more.
